La Banque du Canada (BdC) a relevé les taux d'intérêt à leur plus haut niveau depuis 2001.

Le taux du financement à un jour est maintenant de 4,75 %, soit 25 points de base de plus qu'il ne l'était lors de la précédente augmentation en janvier de cette année. La BdC a commencé à relever ses taux en juillet 2022 lorsqu'ils sont passés de 1,5 % à 2,5 %. Cela signifie que sur un an, le taux a augmenté de 3,25 points de pourcentage. La hausse actuelle des taux est une surprise pour beaucoup, le gouverneur de la BdC, Tiff Macklem, ayant déclaré précédemment que la BdC essaierait d'éviter de nouvelles hausses.

The Bank of Canada (BoC) has raised interest rates to their highest level since 2001.
The overnight lending rate is now 4.75%, which is 25 basis points higher than it was at the previous increase in January this year. The BoC started raising rates in July 2022 when it went from 1.5 % to 2.5%. This means that over one year, the rate has increased by 3.25 percentage points. The current rate hike comes as something of a surprise to many as BoC Governor Tiff Macklem had said previously that the BoC would try to avoid further increases.
